…Or, “You’ve Gotta Eat.”

One of the great benefits of working out in Uptown Minneapolis is the wide selection of “refueling” stations within blocks of the studio. Here are a few spots I frequent, even when sweaty and toting a yoga mat.

Juice: Truce, Hennepin and 32nd St. Nutrition in a bottle, Truice’s ultra-fresh pressed juices make you feel downright righteous. They’d make an expensive habit, but for a vitamin-packed power-up, these beautiful bottles are worth a special trip.

Coffee: Bull Run Coffee Bar, Lyndale and 34th St. Bull Run is a welcoming, unassuming place with fantastic coffee and no attitude. You don’t have to feel self-conscious in gym shorts or rushed if you want to savor the breeze and your morning brew. (And they roast their own.)

Breakfast: Common Roots, Lyndale and 26th St. Proud of their local-sourcing and super fresh ingredients, Common Roots serves up a great plate—but I still say go in for their bagels, the best in town.

Lunch and Brunch: Lucia’s, Hennepin and 31st St. Our neighbor (and “coffee break” class partner!), the wine bar and its sibling restaurant offer creative salads and sides just as skillfully crafted as their fine dining fare. Never too rich, this nosh feels nourishing.

Quick Takeout: World Street Kitchen, Lyndale and 27th St. I just can’t say enough about the restorative powers of WSK’s crispy tofu burrito. This one’s my favorite post-Barre protein fix!

Dinner: Barbette, Lake Street and Holmes. French food can seem incredibly indulgent (and probably sounds crazy for after a tough workout), but Barbette has a knack for luscious but less-rich entrees that won’t weigh you down. Of course, if you just want to toss back a plate of pommes frites with fresh aioli, I absolutely support that decision…

Dessert: YogurtLab, Excelsior Boulevard off of Lake Calhoun. Yes, yogis eat dessert. When you’re blissed-out after Asana Stretch, the choices at Yogurt Lab can feel a bit overwhelming, but a cup of something cold topped off with fruit (or a ton of candy, sauces, or cereals, if that’s your bag) is incredibly refreshing.
