Vicki Luedtke is an integral part of the Six Degrees community—a highly talented and truly generous Pilates and yoga instructor, she also keeps our ship afloat and generally on-course! Letta reached out to learn a little bit more about Vicki’s own life of movement and her work with featured student Jeff Riebe:“I have always been active. I started running in second grade and I remember feeling so great—I couldn’t explain it, I just knew I wanted more. This lead to exploring different sports throughout high school and in college, where I majored in physical education and fitness. Later, I discovered yoga and Pilates and I pursued certifications in each. All of this lead to me to Six Degrees!
I find that the more I can be a student, feeling and experiencing the movements in my own body, the better I can share this and relate to my clients. I do my best to take a private Pilates session once a month and take a variety of classes from a variety of instructors—it’s always helpful to hear a new cue and gain a new perspective.
I have been working with Jeff Riebe for a while now, and I’m inspired by his spirit and tenacity. He is always open to trying a new exercise or experience. Because of Jeff, I have learned to, as he likes to put it, ‘Relish the feeling of the movement.’
My goal in my classes is to always have the client feel better than when they arrived. I am hopeful that they can find the simplicity and fluidity of movement in their body. To connect with one’s breath and move mindfully and with intention can change not only the body, but the entire mindset.”
