OK, geek talk: we all know that energy cannot be created or destroyed. So that fat we burn when we’re working out? It has to transform into an equal amount of energy somehow. Where does it go?? I’d never even thought about it!
According to a study in the British Medical Journal, as reported in the April 2015 issue of Fitness:
As fat molecules metabolize, their atoms break free and regroup to form carbon dioxide and water. The CO2 is then released into the blood stream and transported to the lungs to be exhaled, and the water is excreted.
Deep breaths in, deep breaths out: transformative, in more ways than one.
