This post was written by our client, Jeff Riebe, who has written before about his experience with recovery after a coma. He is continuing to re-develop his relationship with his body, connecting with the teachers and community at Six Degrees. Through the end of September, clients who have never done private sessions at the studio can purchase a 5-pack of hour-long private sessions for $250. We offer private tutorials in Pilates, strength, TRX, and barre.
As insurmountable as recovery has seemed at times, I simply did not, do not, have it in me to give up. The activity I have coaxed myself to do has gotten me this far, but it is no way far enough. I need to get out of my own way. Become open to the brilliance!
My heart is broader and deeper than ever imagined. My mind, I have learned, is more complex. They have both grown considerably as I continuously adjust my presence: Re-be.
I have learned that opening is only possible if one is present. I have to thank my former acting coaches for encouraging me to wonder, allow and accept. To have an objective is clear. “All the world’s a stage,” indeed. I am reprocessing my re-opening act.
Emphasis on the physical took priority at the beginning of my recovery. I shower heaps of gratitude on the beautiful souls at Six Degrees Uptown for encouraging me to coax openness. Physical openness is their forte, spiritual openness is all me. Time and dedication to my muscular self has got me to the point where I am can focus on my joints. Open joints? Healthy joints? I had incorrectly presumed joints were joints.
Taking the open challenge, I have not looked back. The work coached at Six Degrees Uptown has been deeply moving. It has aided in bringing me back to me: For you. Open!
