The CDC currently recommends 150 minutes of mixed activity, including aerobic activity and strength training, per week for all adults. That’s right: 2.5 hours. And who’s hitting that minimum target? Just one in five adults.
But you, dear readers, are far more likely to be making that goal, whether inside the Six Degrees studios or out on the biking and running trails of the Twin Cities. In case, however, you’re feeling nervous about squeezing in trips to the gym, here are a few class-stack suggestions that’ll help you breeze through three or more hours, keeping your body humming along, relieving stress and anxiety, improving memory, and otherwise being awesome.
Monday: 120min.
4:45pm Vinyasa Yoga with Emily will get you limbered up and in the flow, followed by 6pm Barre with Letta, for a fun, holistic workout.
Tuesday: 120min.
5:15pm enjoy an hour of TRX Circuit training with Stacey, incorporating high intensity cardio intervals with bodyweight training; pop out for a quick snack; and return for 7:15 Pilates chair class, lengthening and strengthening with Kelly as you explore movement on a new piece of equipment.
Wednesday: 135min.
10:00am show up ready for 75 minutes with Heather in a fusion Core Boxing/Barre class, grab a coffee over at Dogwood, and get ready to settle into our most restorative yoga class, Yin Yoga, with Vicki (a steal at $10!) at noon. No-impact, all growth.
Thursday: 120min.
Getting intense! How about a 6pm Barre class with Heidi followed by her signature Core Cardio class at 7:15pm? You’ll shake off the week and strut those sore muscles for a Friday Pride-day!
Friday: 60min.
Sure, you’re probably a little tired from Thursday, but what about a noon Friday Pilates mat class with Cady Eddy? You’ll lengthen and strengthen on the mat under the tutelage of a true expert and head out in time for an afternoon nosh over at Agra Culture or the Lucia’s, getting your glow on for Friday night.
Saturday: 120min.
Rise and shine! 8am Six Degrees Strength will get your muscles primed for 9:15 advanced Reformer Pilates with Becky. Imagine how stoked you’ll feel to rack up your workouts before you even get to brunch? Or, if you’re not a morning person, a noon Reformer Pilates class with Cady is a great prelude to 1:15 Yin Yoga with Zane—a chill way to celebrate Saturday and maybe even a lead-in to a nice walk around Lake Calhoun.
Sunday: 60min.
Save your bucks in the morning—or wring out your weekend excesses with 6pm detox yoga with Trista! Either way, you’ll feel refreshed and ready to greet the week.
