To celebrate Earth Day this Sunday, we’ve compiled a list of best practices and eco-friendly tips to help better our planet. Follow us on Instagram and don’t miss our Earth Day Giveaway!
NATURAL LIGHT
A great way to conserve energy is by turning off the overhead lights and using natural sunlight to illuminate your work space. Spring is finally here! We love to turn the lights off and allow the sunlight in during our yoga, fitness, and Pilates classes.
EARTH FRIENDLY CLEANERS
Eliminate the use of harmful chemicals and try this easy, home-made cleaner recipe:
· In a 12 oz bottle combine
· 4 oz Vinegar
· 8 oz Water
· several drops of Lavender or Lemongrass essential oil
The vinegar naturally disinfects while maintaining clean surfaces. The essential oils have unique properties and also smell amazing. This can be used as an all-purpose cleaner in the bathroom, kitchen, or home gym!
CONSERVE WATER
This can be as simple as shortening showers, using rain water to water plants, and turning the sink off while brushing your teeth. Try hand washing your active wear, this tends to save more water and it is gentler on elastics.
REUSE, RECYCLE
Take reusable bags to the grocery store with you and use thermoses and coffee mugs at your desk instead of paper cups. And don’t forget your water bottles for class!
TRANSPORTATION
Consider walking or riding your bike to the studio once the snow (finally) melts! Carpooling, riding your bike, or walking can reduce pollution from vehicles. This can increase your interpersonal interactions and steps for the day (and serves as a great warm up for your Six Degrees workouts).
