A guest post from client Jeff Riebe.
Since I can recall, within this reiteration anyway, the body joints that serve to hinge my skeletal system together, as well as the muscle groups surrounding and supporting them, have been agonizingly taught with tension. Waking from that coma nearly a decade ago, my thoughts went directly to my muscles, then of course to my bones, which had been severely shattered—talk about being smashed!
Initially, the things I neglected to heed were my joints. They were and are screaming. I now answer their call by practicing Pilates with Six Degrees, which has been glorious because their focus seems to be oiling up my ignored joints. I’m not sure if technically that is what Pilates is developed to accomplish, but that is precisely the benefit I get from the practice. My coach Vicki has diligently helped me to properly move, breaking down basic movement. Her razor sharp attention to detail is exactly what my body needs. Of the personal areas screaming for attention, my hips have been particularly hollering. I have been relishing in the movements instructed: Ahhh, movement!
Also offered at Six Degrees is Thai massage. This type of massage focuses on, you guessed it, the joints. Regular massage is fantastic for the muscle system, but Thai massage feels more specifically tailored to attend the joints. Unashamedly, so needed. My aching joints, all of them really, have benefitted greatly from working with Becky at Six Degrees.
