______________________________________________________________________________ 1) What is the Sacrament of Confirmation?

Confirmation is one of the Sacraments of Initiation into the Church.  Together with Baptism and Eucharist, Confirmation completes the grace of Baptism by a special outpouring of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, which seal or “confirm” the baptized in union with Christ and empowers them for active participation in the worship and apostolic life of the Church.

2) At what age does St. Peter’s offer Confirmation for Parishioners?

Students are eligible to register for Confirmation program anytime in high school.

3) When do I register?

All Confirmation Candidates will need to register for Perissos, our high school ministry. Confirmation specific registration is also included on this form.

4) How long is the Confirmation preparation process at St. Peter’s?

The confirmation preparation process begins in September and concludes in May.

5) When do Confirmation classes start?

The Confirmation program at St. Peter’s begins in September.

6) When do classes meet?

In lieu of Confirmation Classes all candidates must fully participate in Perissos, our high school ministry.  Perissos meets on Wednesday nights from 6:30-8:00pm.  For more information on Perissos click here.

7) Are students required to attend Mass?

Attendance at Mass is considered part of the program.  Confirmation is a Sacrament of Initiation into the church, where the candidates are empowered for full and active participation in the worship and apostolic life of the church.  The purpose of Confirmation in part is to confirm the candidates fully into the faith community.  Being as the weekly liturgy is considered the “source and summit” of the activity of that community, a candidate who enrolls in the preparation program but does not regularly attend Mass may likely be asked to re-consider their motivation for being confirmed, or re-examine their reasons for not attending Mass.

8) What other activities are there besides Perissos?

Besides Perissos, there are a few other events required to complete the preparation program:

  • Attendance at the Rite of Welcome and Mini Retreat.

  • Attendance on the Weekend Retreat.

  • Attendance (along with parents and sponsor) at “Parent\Sponsor\Candidate Day.”  This is a day long (9am-2pm) gathering on a Sunday beginning with Mass, and including a guest speaker, information on the Confirmation Mass at the Cathedral, a potluck lunch and a Reconciliation service.

9) What are the service hours requirements?

Candidates will be required to participate in, and reflect upon, three different service experiences, throughout the year.
