PILATES CURRICULUM 2016-2017
Students can have the freedom and flexibility to pick and choose which module they attend depending on their individual needs and goals
All students who wish to be eligible to take the PMA national certification exam and receive a comprehensive teacher training diploma from Six Degrees must complete ALL Classroom hours plus the internship. (450 hours total).
CLASSROOM HOURS (164 hours)
Classroom hours are made up of separate modules that consist of lectures, movement studies (anatomy), core connection studies (understanding how the equipment relates to each other), and special Pilates classes and topics.
Students can begin their classroom hours at anytime if they meet the prerequisites for the specific module they are registering for (see our online scheduler for prerequisites).
LECTURE HOURS
Each lecture weekend is comprised of the classic repertoire, how to assist with your hands, effective verbal cueing, modifications, interpersonal communication skills, and basic kinesiology within the exercise
Fridays 5:00p.m.-8:00p.m./ Saturdays 1:00p.m.-8:00p.m. / Sundays 1:00p.m.-8:00p.m.
*Barrels & Spine Corrector Teacher Training is Saturday 1pm-6pm ONLY

MOVEMENT STUDIES (16 Hours)
Each movement study workshop is comprised of a “hands on” approach to learning anatomy and kinesiology. These workshops take away “the fear of learning anatomy” or memorizing anatomy terms, and instead gives you the tools to “see” the body in front of you. Students will begin to understand how to asses bodies and help them move more effectively.

Special 2- hour classes are offered throughout the year. These classes explore different Pilates specialty topics that gives students even more tools on becoming the best teacher they can be.
Students who have completed Six Degrees Barre Class Training Level 1 or 2 may submit their hours as credit for the entire Pilates Specialty class requirement.

INTERNSHIP HOURS (286 hours)*
All students who want to be eligible to take the PMA national certification exam and receive a comprehensive teacher training diploma from Six Degrees Pilates must complete the internship.
