The goal of the Elementary Program is to help children develop a healthy relationship with, and a deeper understanding of, the Catholic Church and of God.

Classes for students in grades 1-5 meet on Wednesdays from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. or 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in classrooms located downstairs.

Grades 1, 3, 4, and 5 use the Alive in Christ series published by Our Sunday Visitor. The Alive in Christ series is deeply rooted in Church Tradition. It remains faithful to the Catechism of the Catholic Church and the General Directory for Catechesis. This program pulls from the following sources of Catholic wisdom: 1) scripture, 2) doctrine, 3) lives of saints and people of faith, and 4) cultural customs and celebrations. The following key content areas are taught at each grade level: Revelation, the Holy Trinity, Jesus Christ, the Church, Morality, the Sacraments, and the Kingdom of God. Each of these concepts is taught in an age appropriate manner. As the children progress from grade to grade, their understanding of these concepts grows and deepens.

In addition to the curriculum, we use a variety of creative methodologies, the children participate in the worship experience at several different prayer services throughout the year, and the children are taught by people who have a strong and sincere personal faith life.

Grade 2 has the additional goals of preparing students for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist. For more information about the First Reconciliation and First Eucharist programs within the Elementary Program please refer to the Sacraments section of this website

Registration for the Elementary program occurs in April and May of the previous school year. For more information, please contact the Religious Education/Faith Formation office.
