Funeral Arrangements For Officer Scott Patrick Funeral Finalized
Many Opportunities for Public to Show Their Respects
ST. PAUL — Funeral arrangements are now finalized for Mendota Heights Police Officer Scott Patrick, including several opportunities for the public to pay their respects.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, Aug. 6, at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in West St. Paul. Thousands of police officers from across the state, region and nation are expected to join family and friends for the funeral service.
Seating at the funeral is limited, but Town Square Television, the local community cable TV station will provide live cable television coverage of the funeral service. That coverage will appear on Multifaith Access Channel 16 for Comcast subscribers in Inver Grove Heights, Lilydale, Mendota, Mendota Heights, South St. Paul, Sunfish Lake and West St. Paul. CTN Studios, the cable TV department of the City of Coon Rapids, will provide a live stream of the service on YouTube for people outside of those communities.
Following the funeral two processions will make their way 7.8 miles through West St. Paul and Mendota Heights on the way to Acacia Park Cemetery. The first procession will include hundreds of law enforcement and other public safety agencies. The second procession will follow approximately 20 to 30 minutes later. It will include Mendota Heights law enforcement, city staff, Officer Patrick’s family and Officer Patrick. The public is encouraged to show their support along the procession route.
The procession will exit the church and head north on Charlton Street, then west on Butler Avenue. It will go north for a short time on Delaware Avenue before heading south on Dodd Road to Mendota Heights Road where it will head west. The procession will continue on Mendota Heights Road and head north on Lemay Lake Road. The procession will continue north on Highway 13 and enter the cemetery from Acacia Boulevard.
Officer Patrick will arrive at the cemetery in a horse-drawn Caisson. A bell will be rung 22 times, one for each year of Scott’s law enforcement experience. The Minnesota State Patrol will take part in a fly-over of the cemetery. And then last call will go out for Officer Patrick.
The public is invited to attend the visitation from 2 to 8 p.m. at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church. Parking for the visitation is available at Henry Sibley High School, 1897 Delaware Ave., Mendota Heights. Shuttle buses will take visitors to and from the church.
Residents in the area around the church should be aware that parking will not be allowed in a several square block area around the church the day of the funeral.
