Many women who aren’t “traditionally sized” (that is, who run outside the Victoria’s Secret spectrum of 32A-38DD) have extolled the virtues of Moving Comfort to me, and I can speak highly of their easily adjustable straps. For my money, though, the sure bet is the ill-named “Fantasie” (sports bras might occasionally be flattering, but when effective, they’re rarely anyone’s fantasy). Real cups, underwire, sizes that run into the upper registers of the Alphabet Song, and straps that can quickly go racer back or straight according to preference. Only downside there is back closure, which is uncomfortable in a few floor-based exercises. Oh, and they’ll knock you back a few bucks.

UnderArmor has lately been expanding its options and has a nice zip front with soft cups, but you’ll have to compromise on your real size vs. their sizing, doing the vaunted but rarely true: go up a band size and down a cup size and you’ll be fine! (This is generally a myth and Oprah would yell at you for falling for it.) But if you’re doing a ton of mat pilates and the like, a no-closure back could be great for your spine and you won’t need a super high-impact sports bra.
